Heads up: Dubai Metro has new timings this Sunday

Travelling via the Dubai Metro this weekend? There has been a change in operation timings for Sunday, February 1, 2026.

Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) made the official announcement to the revised timing in an official Instagram post

The Dubai Metro for both the Red Line and Green Line on February 1, 2026, will run from 5am until midnight.

It’s to ensure you have a smoother journey to and from the Dubai Marathon.

What is the Dubai Marathon?

Mai Dubai Marathon

One of the world’s fastest marathons is back. From PB-friendly roads to unbeatable city views, the Dubai Marathon returns before sunrise on February 1, 2026, when the city’s streets belong to runners.

Now in its 25th edition, the race has grown into one of the region’s most established long-distance events, holding World Athletics Gold Label status and earning a global reputation for speed — all set against Dubai’s awe-inspiring architecture.

The 42.195km race begins near Madinat Jumeirah before heading along Al Sufouh Road and onto Jumeirah Beach Road.

And you can spot many of Dubai’s iconic landmarks along the way. The Burj Al Arab is the standout, rising above the route and reappearing at several points along the way, and runners will even pass close to the entrance of Palm Jumeirah. Further along, the scenery shifts as Downtown Dubai comes into view, anchored by the Burj Khalifa on the horizon.

Race-day notes

Expect early-morning road closures, so whether you’re running or spectating, plan ahead.

It’s an early start, but there’s nothing quite like seeing the city come together before sunrise. If you’re running or cheering from the sidelines, tag us on socials @whatsondubai – we want to see you living that Dubai life.
